Dragon Films Announces New Project
Dragon Films has announced its next and newest project, and this time its not horror-based. GDragonAF is set to direct the first-ever dramatic-based piece in Df history. The film comes from the 21-page, short script, "The Deal".
"‘The Deal' is about an ex-husband that hires a hitman to kill his ex-wife in order to obtain custody of his son," GDragonAF explains of the plot. "There are six characters involved in this saga about the travesty of this man and his family. Although the whole script only incorporates 19 scenes (which includes an ‘intro scene'), the whole film should run along a 10-20 minute length."
The six characters that live in the world of "The Deal" are:
JOHN EVANS - the ex-husband who hires the hitman;
KHRYSTA EVANS - the ex-wife who is being targeted by the hitman;
ALEX EVANS - the son who is being fought for;
SASH - the hitman who is hired to kill the ex-wife;
HANNAH BARNELL - the sister of the ex-wife who is the supporting shoulder;
DET. PETER McCLANSKY - the officer who is assigned to the case.
Casting has already been completed on this project, having all six roles headed by talented actors.
"I am fully casted now," GDragonAF states. "And I'm very confident in the talent of my actors."
The project will be filmed on location in Dover, Delroy, and Canton - all in the state of Ohio - and will be shot on Hi-8.
When asked about the differences between passed and present projects, GDragonAF said "Nothing specific. All projects have a difference about them, or you'd just be doing the same thing over and over. The only true difference is that we'll be shooting all scenes during the day - instead of all scenes at night."
In fact, she is very confident of "The Deal" being well-received.
"There's no doubt in my mind that this film will be successful. It has a solid story, the script is easy to read and understand, and the ending leaves people thinking - yet it tells them exactly what happened," GDragonAF says. "I don't see how anyone wouldn't like this film!"
Before now, GDragonAF has put a lot of her time into creating horror/suspense film. Some people have wanted to know why she switched to another genre - especially to the Drama-based genre. GDragonAF tells us why.
"I don't want to be typecast as a director that only does one kind of film," GDragonAF explains. "I want people to realize that Dragon Films (and myself) is about variety. I want to create in all types of genre: from Kids and Family, to Sci-Fi and Action. Horror will always be my favorite genre base, however, I don't want to be stuck with it. Variety is good, and I felt that it was time to switch. I wanted my next project to be solid, have a good audience appeal, but be fun to watch. That's when I thought of "The Deal"."
GDragonAF wrote the script for "The Deal" in less than 16 hours, and had it proofed and polished within a few hours. The total days that passed while creating the script for "The Deal" was only four days; she even had the script copywritten in that short time.
Pre-Production is underway, with rehearsals to start Monday, February 3rd, 2003. Production on this project will begin later in the month.
When the project is completed, GDragonAF has plans for the film.
"I plan to submit it to film festivals, of course," GDragonAF says proudly. "The first festival it will be entered in will be the Bare Bones Film Fest in Oklahoma, the next being the Ohio Independent Film Fest in Cleveland, Ohio; after that, time will tell."
